Probes

A periodontal probe is used to measure pocket depths around a tooth in order to establish the state of health of the periodontium. It is also used to locate and mark the pockets. The probe has tapered rod-like instruments with calibration in millimeters. Calibrations are usually color-coated for easy reading.

The probe is inserted in the pocket to measure the depth of the pocket. The graduated rod should be parallel to the tooth. MediTools periodontal probes are manufactured from rust-free stainless steel and autoclavable.
